Storlien is located in Sweden's best mountain terrain, which has signed Sweden's outdoor history and still belongs to the mountain world's most visited. The area is a classic mountain land and after the railroad was here in 1882, it became Sweden's most popular winter sport location for many decades. In summertime was one of the dominant personalities Dr. Ernst Westerlund from Enköping that during summer moved his practice here. In Storlien and its vicinity are well-known destinations such as: "Flower path (Blomsterstigen)", which was landscaped in 1890 as a "spa trail" of Dr. Ernst Westerlund´s patients under the sanatorium era, "Ernstkumlet", "Temple of the Winds", the fabled "stone of Green valley", "Printzsköldmonumentet", the waterfall "Brudslöjan", the restricted bird area outside Storlien, "Storvallens mountain chapel" and "Snasahögarna mountain". Our location directly on the mountain with other mountain peaks around us gives a wonderful scenario, and the ease of traveling by train, car or "fly here" (it is only 70 kilometers to the nearest international airport; Vaernaes Airport in Stjördal), means that our guests will here enjoy our large, untouched mountain areas in all directions. From accommodation facilities both in the center of the village and in Storvallen can include hikes directly to Blåhammaren mountain station and then on to Storulvån mountain station, and not least Sylmassivet and Sylarna mountain lodge! Wherever you choose to stay within the "Destination Storlien / Storvallen" there are some very nice summer and winter trails and woodland lakes for fishing right around the corner. |
